Welcome to
The Wingman’s Path
The Weekend Wingman.
Thoughts from the past week…
My leg’s been healing and I’m focusing on how much better it feels.
Give it a try. It can’t be any easier. Just focus on anything positive.
I haven’t been able to meditate at all lately. How about you, do you have problems meditating?
I either fall asleep or have all these thoughts flying through my mind.
I’m going to try again as soon as I’m done writing this.
Maybe I will try something different.
Better idea, I’ll meditate now, then write.
Great idea. Will do.
Ok I’m back.
I made it for 7 minutes or so.
No music, no guides, no images.
Tried something new though, and it worked.
Meditated on the word “Wingmen” over and over.
Had a very successful 7 minutes, which for me is really good.
I then allowed outside noise to change my focus back to the present moment.
Try it for yourself. Find a word that feels right, and focus on it.
Try it for one minute or more. You can certainly borrow mine.
“Wingmen”… It felt great.
I can’t wait to try it again later tonight or tomorrow.
Speaking about trying new things successfully…
The “Exploring Happiness” workshop was wonderful.
There were 10 of us, all doing exercises that helped us focus on our happiness. It was like a mastermind group on happiness.
I mean really, how often do you consciously focus on your happiness?
I learned how powerful it is to do so.
I keep hearing the same from others as well.
I urge you to explore your happiness. It can only help you feel better.
If you like, contact me for some tips, or even better, come to the next workshop, (see below).
Either way, try one of the above practices and have a great weekend.
I Remain Stubbornly Positive,
Michael

A View From the Wing… by Janet Sokoloff
Blind and Toothless
It was a rough winter in the Sokoloff-Gross household.
My darling dad died in December, following a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease.
A few weeks later, following some routine dental work, I became plagued with severe mouth and tooth pain. My return to the dentist led to three different specialist visits; all of whom had different opinions on the problem. The pain persisted.
Then, there was a two week episode of stomach issues that I won’t even go into. More doctor visits followed. And then…the head cold to end all head colds.
In the midst of all of this, plus working full time, we were attempting to get our house ready to sell, and also planning a trip to Thailand to visit my daughter who has been teaching there for the past five months.
But, then the piece de resistance occurred. One icy morning, five days before our trip to Thailand, Michael fell down our icy front steps. He hit his head, turned his ankle and tore his quad tendon. After four days of x-rays, scans, Advil and second opinions, the doctors reluctantly agreed to let him travel.
After all of this, my anxious, fatalistic side started wondering, “Is all of this a warning to deter us from going on our trip, some cosmic attempt to keep us from some larger unforeseen disaster? Or, is this our opportunity to press a giant reset button on our lives?” I wanted to believe the latter, but anxiety and doom filled thoughts swirled through my mind.
My Dad used to tell the story of his and my mother’s honeymoon. My dad was just out of the army and in his first teaching job, with no money and not even a nice suit in which to get married. Following a tiny wedding in the Rabbi’s study they drove to Atlantic City for a few days. Somehow, my mother broke her glasses and my dad cracked his tooth. “We were blind and toothless”, my dad would declare smiling, “but we were happy and in love.”
So, there we were in Thailand: my tooth still throbbed sometimes; Michael limped along, at times with a cane or leg brace, knowing surgery was just around the corner. We were lame and toothless, but swimming in far away oceans, eating passion fruit and mangosteens, meditating with monks and climbing 510 step temples to the sky. It had been a sad and difficult winter. But we were happy and in love. In Thailand.
I had chosen to press Reset.
To Resetting,
Janet

Build Your Inner Team this week
“Never, never, never give up.”
Winston Churchill
We all get knocked down once in a while, the trick is to get back up.
My surgery may have knocked me down, but it didn’t keep me down, and even though my leg is still in a brace, I’m ready to rock and roll again.
Maybe my Build Your Inner Team program can help
you come back as well.
After helping the New Hope Art League harness their creativity last week, I’m back on the road.
Tonight, I’ll be working with 3 different South Jersey Fire departments to help reduce stress.
I wanted to gently remind you of 2 different classes coming up, one this Saturday in Mullica Hill, and one on Monday in Medford.
I hope you can make it and look forward to seeing you accomplishing your desires.
Michael

Thankful for small things
When you’re in a leg immobilizing brace, and stuck on your couch 24/7, you start being thankful for little things.
Like being able to open and close the back door with your crutch so your dog can get out.
Like a filled glass of water.
Like someone visiting. With food.
Like keeping busy.
And now… I’m excited to be getting out tomorrow night for my presentation to the New Hope Art League.
Many thanks to Ilene Rubin, V.P. of the NH Art League, for being able to postpone until April 7th due to my surgery.
If you’re in the New Hope area and would like to harness your creativity, come on over. It should be a fun, and productive, night.
Btw… A great little practice… come up with small things you’re thankful for, for one minute.
Amazing what it does for your vibration. Give it a try.
Feeling Pretty Thankful,
Michael
Truth, from Zen Master Moo Moo Sunim
It was early one morning, and Jan and I were out exploring Chiang Mai, the second largest city in Thailand, when we came upon the impressive ruined Temple, Wat Chedi Luang.
After meditating in the inner temple, we walked around the impressive grounds, but with my quad tendon half torn (I’m having surgery today), I decided a rest would be wise. Imagine my surprise as a Zen Master, and his two students, traveling from South Korea, decided to rest at that time as well.
How fortunate for me as we spoke a bit, with one of his students translating in broken, but understandable English.
I was in Wingman Heaven.
They asked what I did, and when I said I’m a positive energy coach, he said these words I’ll never forget.
“Truth is Positive Energy”.
I swear the world stopped in that moment, if just for a second.
Truth is positive energy.
Truth.
The word has remained with me ever since.
I’ve practiced it, thought it, turned it into an emotion, and meditated on it. I’ve lived it, loved it, learned about it. I’ve lost it, found it, and lost it again. I’ve googled it, wikipediaed it and read quotes on it. I’ve talked about it, coached about it, and spoken on the radio about it.
And now, I thought I should blog about it, in the hopes this one word can help you as well.
Truth.
In some of my coaching sessions, it’s resonated immediately, and people have seen their truths clearly.
You might be more like me though; I’m still practicing the word, just saying it over and over again, as I search for my truth.
Give it a try. You can practice it in many ways.
You can meditate on it.
You can practice emoting it (“I feel my truth”).
You can say, as I did this morning for one minute, “When I live my truth, I feel better”. Or
You can keep it really simple, and just say the word truth over and over again.
One thing I’m certain of, practicing truth, whatever that means to you, will help bring you clarity.
Yours in Truth,
Michael
No individual coaching sessions for the next couple weeks as I’ll be recuperating from my quad tendon surgery.
The below workshops and classes are still on.
I look forward to seeing you then.
